Evolution of Facebook

Well, for starters I loved this movie. I thought it was so interesting learning about the creation of Facebook and all that went into it. A drunken idea for a computer coder just trying to get back at his girlfriend evolved into all that Facebook is.

Clearly you can tell that Mark has a vendetta and is more focused on allowing himself to climb to the top instead of watching someone else become successful. You see this first hand with the jealousy that comes from Eduardo getting asked to join the Phoenix. Mark is clearly so frustrated with the situation that he doesn’t find any happiness for his friend. It kind of reminds me of when sorority girls get bids and their friends get jealous because they don’t get asked to be in the same one.

After Mark gets asked by the twins to join the Phoenix, he realizes that the website they want him to code actually has some real potential. So he ghosts them and takes the time to create his own version of this website after he screws over Eduardo into giving him money. This is where the actual idea of Facebook is created. When he starts coding, he is speaking a mile a minute and I had no idea what was happening.

As the movie continues you follow along the lawsuit that they are all involved in after Mark becomes a millionaire. It’s hard to figure out who’s side you’re on because truthfully you can see both sides of the argument. Mark says a really valid point “If I created a new chair, I shouldn’t have to pay royalties to anyone who has ever made a chair”. Which is so true. He changed the idea, so I see why he believes he shouldn’t have to pay anyone money. Things get messy but at the end we see that Mark ends up paying the twins 60 million and having them sign an NDA so nothing like this could ever happen again.
