The ability to create whatever I feel

I have always loved this idea that you can be whoever you want to be online. For example, I could be quiet and reserved in my day to day life, but my instagram account can be a place where I voice my political and social views on all things controversial. I can stir up quite the ruckus, just because I want to.

There is something so beautiful about that to me. I can be everything I want to be. I can create a space that invites people, one that is exciting and warm. I can share my deepest thoughts, or just that I really like the feelings that the color yellow pulls out of me. I can show you my favorite outfit, or tell you about someone I’m falling in love with.

Intimacy can be created with physical distance. If looked at with the wrong perspective, this could create a lot of stress for some people. But, when looked at with the RIGHT view, this is so beautiful. My best friend who got stationed in Japan can still see my favorite outfit and hear about what happened in history class today. I can be as authentic or as inauthentic as I desire.

I have created an instagram account that does all of this for me. It allows me to be exactly who I want to be. I have curated a space that brings life and happiness to me. A space that I look forward to logging into. This space makes me excited. It allows me to unlock a sense of creativity that I genuinely thought I had lost. I am thankful that the internet allows me to feel the exciting feelings again. The inspiration and the authenticity can all be just a swipe away.
