What did any of that even say?

Hi! Well for starters, I was uber confused the ENTIRE time I reading the assigned chapter. I don’t know if my brain just decided to spazz out but like nothing I read made any kind of sense. But I also feel like that is the beauty and the scariness that is the Internet. Anyone can write anything wherever they want to. “Access” to files is no longer needed on common webpages. If I want to write a blog about why the tv show Jeopardy should never air again, I can. Does that mean the TV channel is going to ban the show? No. But I can still write it and have it exist on the internet if I want to.

The internet is a mix of everything but also, nothing really. It is the means in which we can communicate with people who aren’t sitting on the couch next to us. It is the avenue for love to spark through websites and business deals to be confirmed. The internet is what has made so much possible, but was made out of literally nothing. A few wires and some batteries, and lots of smart people who know how to put codes together.

Is the internet alive? Well I mean… the initial answer is no. Obviously the software itself doesn’t breath. It doesn’t do anything but just.. exist. But, the more you think about that question, the more the line starts to get blurred. Technically, the internet would not BE without people. People who breath and use their brains to answer hard questions. Therefore the internet is alive because the people who made it what it is are alive.

What do I love about the internet? I love the chance to talk with my family half way across the US and actually see their faces instead of just hearing their voices. I love that I can get school work done in places I could never get it done before. I love the opportunity that it gives me to create. The opportunity to get discovered for my God-given talents.
But there is so much to hate about the internet, if I am being frank. The internet has made crippling addiction to social media. It has made people incapable of being without said internet. People lose social skills because they hide behind screens and think it will solve all of their problems. The internet, although giving the ability to spread love and positive messages, has instead created an environment where sharing hate is acceptable. Where sharing hurtful and hateful messages is common.

The internet is messy. But without it, so much would not exist. It’s a love hate relationship..
